One English word is about 1.33 tokens on the tokenizers used by OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and DeepSeek. The table below converts the volumes people actually ask about, and the second table turns 1,000 words into a price for all 28 models in the dataset.

The formula
Tokens = words × 1.33. To go the other way, words = tokens × 0.75. Both directions are linear, so you can scale any row in the table by ten and stay within a few percent — until the text stops looking like prose. Source code tokenises at roughly 0.3 words per token, JSON at 0.25, and Arabic at 0.34.
Billing is per token, not per word, which is why the ratio matters: a 20% error in your token estimate is a 20% error in your budget.

Roughly 1,330,000 tokens. At that size the input cost ranges from $0.133 on the cheapest model to $13.30 on the most expensive, per 1M-token rates.
Is the 1.33 ratio exact?
No. It is the provider rule of thumb (1 token ≈ 0.75 words). Code, JSON, numbers and non-English text all convert worse. For a precise count, run your text through the tokenizer of the model you are billed on.
